PANAMA CITY, Fla. (AP) — An Linked Press investigation shows a dark side to booming sales of the cannabis extract CBD. Some people today are substituting low cost and unsafe street drugs for the true point.

For the investigation, a reporter in Panama City bought seven vape goods that have been advertised as delivering inhalable CBD. Lab testing showed that 3 contained synthetic marijuana.

The practice of spiking CBD vapes with synthetic marijuana has sent dozens of people today nationwide to emergency rooms. In contrast to true CBD, the street drug provides an intense higher.

In all, lab testing shows spiked vapes or edible goods marketed as CBD in at least 13 states. Some of the brands are obtainable on-line.
