W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., Sept. 12, 2019 – A new ASTM International regular will support bring constant practices to laboratories operating in the cannabis business.  The organization’s cannabis committee (D37) created the new regular (quickly to be published as D8282).

The practice was created by a job group which reviewed documents on current lab test-approach validation and test-approach improvement specifications.  This integrated reviewing documents from the Foundation of Cannabis Unified Requirements (Concentrate), the American Public Overall health Association (APHA), and other organizations.

ASTM International member David Vaillencourt, principal consultant and owner of The GMP Collective, says this regular “fills the existing gap in the cannabis testing business with greatest practice guidance on how to establish test strategies that will make certain consistency of benefits from lab to lab.”  He adds, “To date, the lack of this foundational regular has resulted in apples-to-oranges comparison of laboratory information, top to lowered business and customer self-assurance in test benefits.”

In addition, he says, this regular could be precious for testing laboratories and regulatory bodies in search of to adopt and deliver guidance to organizations. “We also believe that the regular will drive higher consistency of potency labeling of goods that is important to customer well being and security.”
