BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts wellness care officials say there has been an improve in calls to the state’s poison manage center about toddlers ingesting marijuana merchandise.

The Regional Center for Poison Manage and Prevention say the quantity of calls about youngsters five years old and younger almost tripled in the initially seven months due to the fact recreational pot shops opened in November.

The Boston Globe reports youngsters have been having into marijuana merchandise which includes brownies, chocolate bars, or gummies and ending up in the emergency area.

Adina Sheroff, a registered nurse and poison specialist, tells the paper that young youngsters are in particular vulnerable to overdose due to the fact the concentration of THC in the merchandise is intended for adult use and overwhelms children’s bodies.
