Arkansas’ eighth medical marijuana dispensary, The Source, will open at 8 a.m. Thursday in Bentonville. It will be the second cannabis outlet in a little over a week to start selling in the city.

The ReLeaf Center opened Aug. 7 at 9400 E. McNelly Road. The Source, which received formal approval from the state on Tuesday, will be at 406 Razorback Road.

The Source is the dispensary’s new name; last week, the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Commission ratified several changed names for cannabis facilities, including The Source, which was formerly Arkansas Medicinal Source Patient Center.

The other operational dispensaries in Arkansas are Doctor’s Orders and Green Springs Medical, both in Hot Springs; Arkansas Natural Products in Clinton; Greenlight Dispensary in Helena; Native Green Wellness in Hensley; and Fiddler’s Green in Mountain View.

The state released total cannabis sales figures as of 3 p.m. Tuesday, noting that just seven dispensaries had sold nearly 730 pounds of marijuana, more than $5.2 million worth, since the first outlet opened in May. (See figures for each dispensary below.)

In response to a public records request from the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, the state’s Alcoholic Beverage Control Division of the Arkansas Department of Finance & Administration released a list of projected opening dates for the remaining two-thirds of the state’s 32 licensed dispensary companies, with most gearing up for fall openings.

Three of the state’s licensed cannabis cultivators are growing now: Bold Team LLC in Cotton Plant, Natural State Medicinals Cultivation in White Hall, and Osage Creek Cultivation LLC in Berryville. Two cultivators in Newport, Delta Medical Cannabis Co. and Natural State Wellness Enterprises LLC, are expected to be growing by the end of the year.

Arkansas voters approved a constitutional amendment to legalize medical marijuana in 2016, and, as of Friday, nearly 19,000 Arkansans with one of 19 qualifying physical conditions had obtained medical cannabis cards from the Arkansas Department of Health.

The two dispensaries licensed for Little Rock expect to open in late August and in early September, according to the state’s list, and a dispensary in Conway expects to join the lineup in mid-September.
