According to a county official who wishes to stay unnamed, JUUL has approached Lexington County, South Carolina to propose establishing a new production facility in the state’s midlands area.

According to South Carolina Senator Katrina Shealy (R-Lexington), the possibility of a JUUL manufacturing facility in the state is, “still up in the air and negotiations are ongoing. They are searching at places and one particular of them is in my district,”

A JUUL spokesperson had previously stated that the corporation had no official plans to announce as of that time. Having said that, on the internet job postings have emerged for two positions in Columbia, South Carolina.

1st is a Website Manufacturing engineer position. The second, which at this time remains unfilled, is a Senior Supplier High-quality Engineer. That listing reads, in element:

“The Senior Supplier High-quality Engineer develops, establishes and maintains top quality engineering methodologies, systems, and practices which meet FDA, consumer, and regulatory specifications. Serves as a High-quality representative at our Columbia website to enhance awareness, visibility, communication on top quality initiatives to help departmental, functional, website, divisional and corporate top quality objectives and priorities.”

According to Shealy and an spokesperson for the Richland-Lexington Airport District Enterprise Park, the negotiations so far have centered on a park inside that website. The house is no longer owned by the Columbia Metropolitan airport but is situated inside the Enterprise Park.
