Cajun Shrimp and Grits

Spice up a standard weeknight dinner with this cajun-inspired shrimp and grits meal from The Inventive Maven.

  • 1 cup Grits
  • three cups Water
  • two tsp Salt
  • two cups Half and Half
  • two lbs Uncooked Shrimp
  • 1 pinch Cayenne Pepper
  • 1/four cup Lemon Juice
  • 1 lb Andouille Sausage
  • five Bacon Slices
  • 1 Green Bell Pepper
  • 1 Red Bell Pepper
  • 1 Yellow Bell Pepper
  • 1 cup Onion
  • 1 tsp Garlic
  • 1/four cup Cannabis Butter
  • 1/four cup All-Goal Flour
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 cup Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Salt
  1. Bring water, grits, and salt to a boil in a heavy saucepan with a lid. Stir in half-and-half and simmer till grits are thickened and tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Set aside.

  2. Sprinkle shrimp with salt and cayenne pepper drizzle with lemon juice. Set aside in a bowl.

  3. Spot andouille sausage slices in a big skillet more than medium heat fry sausage till browned, five minutes. Take away skillet from heat.

  4. Cook bacon in a big skillet more than medium-higher heat till evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Retain bacon fat in skillet. Transfer bacon bits to paper towels.

  5. Cook and stir bell peppers, onion, and garlic in the bacon fat till the onion is translucent, about five minutes.

  6. Stir shrimp and andouille sausage into vegetables, and mix to combine.

  7. Melt cannabis butter in a saucepan more than medium heat stir in flour to make a smooth paste. Turn heat to low and add chicken broth, stirring continually, till the mixture is thickened, five minutes.

  8. Pour the butter-flour mixture into the skillet with andouille sausage, shrimp, and vegetables. Spot the skillet more than medium heat and add bacon and Worcestershire sauce, cooking and stirring till the sauce thickens and the shrimp come to be opaque and vibrant pink, about five minutes.

  9. Just ahead of serving, mix 1/two C half-and-half and cheese into grits till melted and grits are creamy and light yellow. Serve shrimp mixture more than cheese grits.
