1st Massachusetts farmers moving toward approval to develop marijuana outdoors


So far, all the marijuana sold in Massachusetts’ legal market place has been grown indoors. But that could transform.

The Cannabis Manage Commission on Thursday authorized the 1st two provisional licenses for corporations that strategy to develop marijuana outdoors in the Berkshires. The licenses went to Theory Wellness and BCWC, each healthcare marijuana corporations that are also increasing indoors.

Brandon Pollock, CEO of Theory Wellness, stated the firm is partnering with Sheffield farmer Ted Dobson to start off a pilot plan to test irrespective of whether marijuana can develop outdoors in Massachusetts.

“Part of the legislative mandate is to have farmers participate. Till now, no farmers have,” Pollock stated. “We’re hoping to assist absolutely everyone in that respect and show that it can be accomplished.”

Pollock notes that this would be the 1st time marijuana would be grown outdoors to provide the legal cannabis market place on the East Coast. “We hope to have the 1st outside farm up and operating in a matter of months,” he stated. [Read more at Mass Live]
