A pair of bi-partisan Senators are pressing the federal government for guidance and clarification concerning the hemp industry’s access to economic solutions. On April two, 2019, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) and U.S. Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR) sent letters to federal banking and economic regulators demanding action on the problem.
“While some banks have agreed to provide economic solutions to the developing hemp sector, lots of banks have not due to confusion more than the legal status of hemp,” a single letter reads. “Legal hemp companies really should be treated just like any other companies and not discriminated against.”
