The Week in Weed: March 22, 2019

The large news comes from Florida this week, as lawmakers have ended a ban on smoking healthcare cannabis. Florida legalized healthcare marijuana in 2016, but the ban on smoking led to lawsuits.  These are presumably now moot.

Moving north to New Jersey, the legislature is anticipated to vote subsequent week on legalizing recreational cannabis.  Needless to say, if New Jersey is the subsequent state to legalize, that will be the very first story in the subsequent installment of Week in Weed.  A single can only wonder what former Governor Christie will say…

In Connecticut, legalization is not as far sophisticated as in New Jersey, but some legislators are proposing bills to join their fellow New England states in enabling recreational cannabis.  The sponsors of the legislation note that this is the starting of what will probably be a extended procedure.

Moving west to Illinois, the subject is banking.  The state’s treasurer is urging banking reform, lest healthcare marijuana firms collapse.  If the state legalizes recreational cannabis, the will need to stay clear of “theft, fraud and tax evasion” will only boost.

Oklahoma’s governor has signed new healthcare marijuana guidelines into law.  And New Mexico’s legislature has sent numerous bills to the governor’s desk, but complete legalization was not amongst them.

In overseas news, cannabis is now an challenge in the upcoming Israeli elections.  Presently, only Uruguay and Canada have legalized marijuana on a national level could Israel be subsequent?
