DPA’s Executive Director, Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno, was a single of 4 girls of colour interviewed by Vice’s Broadly to go over the require for neighborhood investment and equal access in the legal cannabis company. The criminalization of marijuana use disproportionately harms folks of colour. These burdens include things like higher prices of arrest, conviction, incarceration, and other types of punishment like barriers to housing, youngster custody, employment, and education. We’re attempting to finish these harms, but we also consider it is essential to repair previous harm. For folks who have been incarcerated, separated from their households, or lost possibilities, we can not get them these years back, but we can do our most effective to make sure that the harms are not compounded by old convictions hanging more than people’s heads or new barriers locking them out of the industry.” – Maria McFarland Sánchez-Moreno
