4 longstanding cannabis shops in West Hollywood had been granted a reprieve on Tuesday by city officials and will be permitted to stay open till the finish of the year as an alternative of becoming forced to close this summer time.
Below a prior selection by the city, the 4 current shops – all previously health-related marijuana dispensaries – did not win regional small business licenses in a competitive bidding method.
All 4 – such as MedMen’s flagship store’s license – would have expired by the finish of July, forcing them to close unless their permits had been extended.
But according to WeHoVille.com, the West Hollywood City Council decided on a three-1 vote to enable the 4 shops – Option Herbal Overall health Solutions, Los Angeles Individuals and Caregivers Group, Zen Healing and MedMen WeHo – to stay open till Dec. 31.
All 4 will obtain extensions for their short-term retail licenses, WeHoVille.com reported.
The city granted retail licenses to eight businesses to operate in West Hollywood final year, but none of the 4 current shops created the reduce.
That meant if none of the current shops had been permitted to continue operations, there would have been a gap involving when the 4 legacy shops closed and the eight newcomers opened for small business, which is why the Council was persuaded to let the 4 shops stay open temporarily.
It is not clear no matter if the city will choose to permanently grandfather in the 4 shops, but some of the eight license winners objected to the move and stated it was an finish-run about final year’s bidding method.
