In a news release posted Thursday, state Rep. Steve Johnson, R-Wayland, announced that legislation that protects the use of cannabidiol or CBD oil has been signed into law.

Beneath this legislation, CBD oil and other goods derived from hemp would not fall below Michigan Healthcare Marijuana regulations.

That signifies Michiganders are not needed to have a health-related marijuana card to get CBD oil and other industrial hemp goods.

CBD oil derived from hemp does not get you higher,” Johnson mentioned in a statement.

“It consists of no far more than .three % Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC). But the Michigan Division of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs decided final summer time to get started classifying it the similar way they do marijuana, which consists of five to 35 % THC.”

The legislation passed, Public Act 642 of 2018, clarifies that CBD oil and other goods derived from hemp fall below the definition of industrial hemp, and not the definition of marijuana.

According to the Michigan Legislature’s web page, the bill was authorized by the governor on Dec. 28 and filed with the Secretary of State on the similar day.

“Many people today use CBD oil derived from hemp to treat discomfort, anxiousness and depression, and to lessen the prevalence of epileptic seizures,” Joe Brown, a farmer in Saranac who tends to make hemp wellness goods mentioned in a statement.

Hemp is fundamentally unique from marijuana, and I’m grateful to Rep. Johnson for his perform to assure this is reflected in Michigan law.”
